A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Kilgore College, a community college in East Texas serving about 6,500 students across multiple campuses, was struggling with sporadic wireless performance as student use of mobile devices, online classes, and rich media grew. The aging Cisco infrastructure could not reliably support phones, tablets, laptops or the college’s expanding remote locations, so IT sought an affordable, integrated wired-and-wireless solution that delivered consistent connectivity and easier management.
Kilgore deployed Brocade ICX 6450 and 6610 stackable switches integrated with Aruba wireless and AirWave monitoring, using mixed stacking and 10 GbE links for simplified configuration and unified visibility. The phased rollout improved wireless and wired performance for classrooms, VoIP and surveillance, gave administrators cross-network monitoring and throttling controls, and reduced daily admin time by about an hour while delivering better price/performance than the competition.
