A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Kiel Municipal Hospital, a midsize public hospital in Germany, faced a surge in connected MedTech devices, rising patient expectations, and heightened scrutiny over electronic patient record security as the country accelerates healthcare digitization. With finite budgets, the IT team needed to improve availability, performance, and security while simplifying operations to support Dedalus (the national digital patient record system) and a diverse mix of clinical workloads.
Partnering with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and AMD Pensando, the hospital rebuilt its data centers into a spine‑leaf architecture using HPE Aruba CX 10000 switches, HPE Alletra storage, ProLiant servers, NetEdit, and Pensando policy services. The distributed services approach enables microsegmentation and local firewall/IPSec services, strengthening data security, boosting application performance and user experience, cutting perimeter firewall costs, simplifying management, and providing cross‑data‑center resilience to support ongoing digital transformation.
