KFC - Customer Case Study

KFC Australia and New Zealand, with more than 600 stores and over 25,000 employees in Australia, needed a way to boost in-store engagement and dwell time while delivering tailored promotions in a market where customers increasingly use multiple mobile devices. The challenge was to provide a stable, high-performance and family‑friendly Wi‑Fi service that could securely onboard many device types and enable targeted marketing without disrupting store operations.

KFC deployed Aruba Networks (access points, ClearPass and AirWave) to deliver centrally managed, secure Wi‑Fi with content filtering, easy device onboarding and proximity marketing. A 10-store pilot recorded about 45,000 sessions in four weeks and strong data usage, leading to a nationwide rollout; customers receive free limited access or extended access in exchange for an email, and KFC reports higher uptake of offers in Wi‑Fi stores, improved monitoring, franchise visibility and stronger customer engagement.
