Isle of Wight College Prepares Next Generation of Leaders with Aruba And Brocade

Isle of Wight College, a large further-education provider on England’s Isle of Wight with more than 17,000 students, needed a reliable, always-on network to support heavy BYOD use and thousands of concurrent devices across campus. The college required a scalable, future-proof wired and wireless infrastructure that could deliver consistent high performance and availability to support teaching, learning portals and future facility expansion.

The college deployed an Aruba wireless network integrated with Brocade ICX 6610 PoE switches at the core and edge, managed by Brocade Network Advisor. The open, standards-based solution delivered improved performance and high availability, simplified management for a small IT team, and a clear upgrade path (1 Gb today to 10 Gb in future), enabling painless rollout, BYOD support and easy expansion into new buildings.
