Incheon Airport eases travel for 50M+ passengers annually with wayfinding

Incheon International Airport (IIAC), which serves more than 50 million passengers annually and aims to be among the world’s top five airports, needed to deliver efficient, secure and seamless connectivity across terminals for travelers, staff, airlines and retailers. The airport required simple guest Wi‑Fi, segmented and secure access for internal and external operations, location services for iOS/Android apps that protect user privacy, and centralized network management with detailed presence analytics.

IIAC deployed Aruba solutions—Meridian for apps, beacons for location and analytics, high‑performance Wi‑Fi and switching (Instant APs), ALE, ClearPass for authentication and policy enforcement, and AirWave for management—to provide location-based services, secure segmented access and a single pane of glass for IT. The rollout improved network performance by 70–80%, user satisfaction by 60–70% and traveler satisfaction by 80–90%, enabled quick locating of assets like wheelchairs, centralized device and app monitoring, reduced interference via automatic channel adjustment, and delivered actionable location and traffic analytics.
