A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
The Vitec Group, a UK-based media and communications company, faced a sprawling, MPLS-based WAN that had grown complex through acquisitions and delivered unreliable failover—causing dropped VoIP and Citrix sessions. IT leadership needed to simplify the WAN edge, support a move to cloud services, automate circuit failover without interrupting real-time apps, and make deployment and management easier.
Vitec deployed the Aruba EdgeConnect SD‑WAN platform (with Aruba Boost optimization and Aruba Orchestrator) to 19 global sites in under six weeks and virtualized an appliance in Azure, allowing MPLS to be retired and sites to run on multiple broadband/4G links. The rollout delivered an average 20% boost in application performance, up to 70% lower latency for backups and file services, sub‑millisecond automated failover to preserve voice and Citrix sessions, simplified edge infrastructure, faster site provisioning, and projected annual savings of about £250,000.
