A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Newmont Mining Corporation, one of the world’s largest gold producers, depends on a 24x7 wireless LAN at its Phoenix Mine to support production reporting, truck assignment, health monitoring and fleet analysis. With about 160 wireless devices (including roughly 90 continuously active radios) and mission‑critical uptime requirements, the operations team needed better visibility and faster troubleshooting than their existing element management tools provided.
Newmont deployed Aruba’s AirWave Wireless Management Suite to centrally monitor access points, workgroup bridges and equipment, enabling quicker fault isolation, remote firmware upgrades and detailed event logging for root‑cause analysis. The result was reliable 24x7 connectivity—multiple APs running a year without failure and no recorded network downtime—and the wireless program has been expanded to additional mines and an upcoming underground implementation.
