A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
St Nikolaus Hospital Eupen is a 200‑bed regional centre in eastern Belgium treating ~30,000 patients a year. Its 10+‑year‑old network struggled with limited visibility, weak security and hundreds of unmanaged devices (phones, laptops, medical kit), while a seven‑person IT team needed a future‑proof, easy‑to‑manage infrastructure to support digital care across a 40,000 m² campus.
The hospital deployed Aruba’s Edge Services Platform — Wi‑Fi 6 APs, Aruba Central, ClearPass NAC with Dynamic Segmentation, Aruba CX switches, BLE beacons/asset tags and related controllers and management tools — to unify wired and wireless into a single secure fabric. The upgrade increased APs from ~200 to 600, delivered campus‑wide seamless mobility, centralized security and visibility, cut Wi‑Fi deployment from days to hours with zero‑touch provisioning, enabled asset tracking and mobile‑first services, and freed IT time to focus on innovation.
