A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Henkel, the Düsseldorf‑based global consumer‑goods company behind brands like Persil and Loctite, needed a scalable, secure wireless LAN for operations in more than 125 countries. Their legacy “thick” access points were hard to manage, didn’t meet modern security needs, and wouldn’t support warehouse logistics, employee applications and guest access at global scale, so Henkel defined over 150 requirements and sought a centrally managed solution that prioritized security and ease of administration.
Henkel selected Aruba’s controller‑based architecture—deploying more than 90 Mobility Controllers and roughly 1,100 access points with WPA2/802.1x and Aruba’s Adaptive Radio Management—managed centrally from Düsseldorf with local control per country. The rollout delivered compliant RF management, lower TCO, high availability and simpler maintenance (WPA2 rollout across Europe took two hours versus an estimated two weeks with thick APs), supported warehouse scanners and guest separation, and enabled future capabilities such as Layer‑3 roaming, VoWi‑Fi and 802.11n.
