Gristedes - Customer Case Study

Gristedes, a long‑standing Manhattan grocer with more than 30 locations, needed to streamline operations, cut the cost and complexity of in‑store networking, and keep critical services like PCI‑compliant point‑of‑sale, digital signage and inventory management running despite frequent wired‑line outages in the city. The chain faced expensive appliances, costly WAN links and regular circuit interruptions that disrupted store operations and required time‑consuming truck rolls.

Gristedes deployed Aruba AP‑105 access points and RAP‑5 Remote Access Points (with VPN and 3G USB failover), centralized management via Aruba AirWave and controllers, and Honeywell Dolphin 9900 mobile computers managed by SOTI MobiControl. The solution was faster and less expensive to roll out, kept POS and scanners online during outages (e.g., a full weekend run processing 1.5 GB of data), reduced truck rolls, standardized security and QoS, improved inventory accuracy and generated new revenue from wireless digital signage.
