A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Orlando International Airport (MCO), operated by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, needed to provide reliable, secure and scalable wireless across a 13,000‑acre campus serving 35 million annual travelers, 18,000 employees, nearly 40 airlines and 100+ retail and tenant operations. The airport’s IT team required an enterprise Wi‑Fi platform that could handle heavy passenger usage, critical operational systems and support new location‑aware mobile services.
GOAA deployed Aruba 802.11ac APs with ClientMatch, ClearPass and AirWave plus Aruba’s Mobile Engagement (Meridian) platform and ~900 BLE beacons. The solution enabled seamless Wi‑Fi handoffs, centralized management and strong access control, and powered a Meridian‑based MCO Mobile App with turn‑by‑turn indoor navigation (about 2,600 downloads in the first weeks). The upgrade improved traveler experience, tenant and staff workflows, and positioned the airport for future expansions such as a train station and parking facilities.
