A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the Brussels Airport Case Study

Granularity of Aruba solution allows streamlined network access for 24.8 million

Brussels Airport, which serves more than 24 million passengers a year, needed a reliable, secure and high‑performance wireless platform to support passenger Wi‑Fi, mobile staff, 200+ partners and future IoT services as part of its Strategic Vision 2040. The airport’s challenge was to take control of a fragmented wireless environment, deliver an outstanding end‑to‑end passenger experience, and provide granular access and security for separate operational and partner networks.

Brussels deployed an Aruba/HPE solution—400 high‑density Aruba indoor and outdoor APs, 2 Mobility Controllers, Aruba ClearPass and AirWave, HPE IMC and a robust wired switching backbone—to provide premium free Wi‑Fi and secure corporate connectivity. The new network supports roughly 40,000 daily connections, gives fine‑grained access control for staff and partners, enables faster rollout of IoT and digital services, and has improved passenger experience and operational efficiency while positioning the airport for GDPR compliance and future innovation.
