A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Fitzwilliam College, part of the University of Cambridge, needed a college-wide wireless LAN to serve 650 on-site students, staff and conference guests across historic buildings and off-site residences. With limited time and budget and campus wiring not designed for widespread cabling, the college required a manageable, resilient BYOD-capable solution that could be rolled out quickly.
Working with Aruba Networks and local partner Khipu, Fitzwilliam deployed a controller-based Aruba solution using PoE access points (including AP‑93H), three controllers (two active + one standby) and almost 250 APs; 80% was complete by the start of term. The project delivered campus-wide coverage with eduroam support, simpler management and strong vendor support—meeting expectations swiftly and within budget with few user complaints.
