Fast-growing school district assures secure, reliable and scalable network services for teaching and learning with Aruba ESP

Pflugerville Independent School District, a fast‑growing Texas system serving about 26,000 students across 34 campuses, needed a more secure, reliable and scalable network to support tens of thousands of devices used for instruction and operations. Their legacy design risked cascading outages, lacked visibility into wired and wireless devices, and required greater flexibility for moving equipment and controlling vendor access.

By deploying Aruba ESP — Wi‑Fi 6 access points, Aruba CX switches, ClearPass, AirWave and UXI — the district implemented 802.1X authentication, dynamic segmentation and a zero‑trust wired policy (including vendor USB tokens that restrict VLAN access). The solution doubled device capacity with no performance degradation, saved the networking team roughly four weeks per year in manual work, improved device visibility and inventory, and reduced support calls so staff can focus on higher‑value projects.
