Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, a major Madrid hospital serving over 5,000 patients daily across a complex of buildings, wanted to humanise care by easing navigation, reducing stress at arrival, improving appointment management and keeping families informed. The challenge was to guide diverse patient itineraries across a large site, prevent missed appointments and integrate communication without adding complexity for staff or patients.

The hospital deployed the TGUIO mobile app built on Aruba Meridian in partnership with Madrid Digital, supported by Aruba BLE beacons, a campus Wi‑Fi fabric and ClearPass security. The app provides blue‑dot wayfinding, proximity push notifications, integrated check‑in and appointment status updates, secure family notifications and digital certificates—resulting in more personalised, timely care, fewer missed appointments, reduced staff burden and secure real‑time access to patient information.
