A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Mandarin Oriental, Singapore — a luxury hotel with extensive meeting and event facilities — faced growing demand for high‑speed, secure wireless access from business travelers and large functions. The hotel's legacy Wi‑Fi suffered from coverage “dark spots,” limited throughput, and cumbersome decentralized management, so IT leaders sought an upgrade to 802.11n, centralized visibility and control, and improved intrusion detection.
Nexwave and Aruba deployed Aruba A6000 and A3600 mobility controllers with 355 access points (119 AP125 with 27 802.11n units and 236 AP61), using Aruba’s Adaptive Radio Management for automatic RF optimization. The phased, off‑peak rollout finished in about five weeks with zero guest disruption and integration into the hotel’s guest portal; results included fewer APs (down from 600 to 355), higher throughput and coverage, centralized management, stronger security, and the capacity to support VOIP, POS and other wireless applications.
