Case Study: ASDA achieves seamless wireless coverage across 651 UK stores with HPE Aruba Networking

A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the ASDA Case Study

Delivering seamless wireless coverage throughout every store to support digital engagements

Asda, the UK supermarket based in Leeds that serves more than 18 million customers a week and holds about 15% market share, needed to modernize its stores for a more digital retail environment. The retailer required reliable, uninterrupted wireless across all 651 UK stores—front of house and back office—to support mobile stock-taking, deliveries, point-of-sale and customer services, and the roll-out had to be completed with no disruption to customers.

Asda deployed over 18,300 Aruba 802.11ac indoor and outdoor access points managed via Aruba AirWave, with a 400‑engineer team installing up to 60 stores per week. Delivered on time and slightly under budget, the program eliminated connectivity blackspots, optimized AP performance, provided seamless in‑store and back‑office coverage, and enabled reliable mobile workflows, click‑and‑collect, and customer Wi‑Fi.
