A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Karlshamns Kommun is a Swedish municipality of 32,000 residents responsible for schools, healthcare and local services. With an IT networking team of two, a Chromebook rollout for every schoolchild exposed limitations in their legacy wired and wireless infrastructure and drove requirements to unify network management, simplify segmentation for staff, students and IoT, and support wider digital transformation across the municipality.
Karlshamns deployed a Mobile First Aruba platform—access points, campus core and edge switches, mobility controllers and Mobility Master, plus AirWave, ClearPass, AOS 8.4 and Dynamic Segmentation—using zero‑touch provisioning to manage wired and wireless consistently. The result: management overhead reduced, security and role‑based access enforced across networks, mobility expanded from a few hundred to ~9,000 connections, public Wi‑Fi and IoT/smart‑city projects enabled, and IT capacity freed to focus on innovation.
