Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was formed in April 2022 by merging two trusts and is now the largest employer in Devon with more than 15,000 staff serving over 615,000 people across 2,000 square miles. The trust needed consistent, secure network access across multiple locations to improve health outcomes and reduce waiting times, optimize electronic patient record access, and simplify processes for clinicians, remote workers, community teams, IoT devices and patients.

Using HPE Aruba networking—including CX switches, Wi‑Fi 6/6E access and remote APs, branch gateways, EdgeConnect SD‑Branch, Central, ClearPass, AirWave and UXI sensors—the trust unified and simplified network management. The solution secures remote access to patient records, supports 1,200 SaaS applications with room to grow, and now centrally manages connectivity for about 10,000 users across 30 hospitals and remote workers, freeing clinicians to focus more on patient care.
