A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Royal Devon University Healthcare (RDUH) NHS Foundation Trust serves 615,000 people across a large, sparsely populated county and faced the challenge of reducing long NHS waits and improving patient outcomes by extending secure, reliable access to electronic patient records and digital workflows across hospitals, community sites and remote clinicians. The trust needed a scalable, high‑performance network to host Epic and some 1,200 applications while enabling community care, remote diagnosis and programs like Acute Hospital at Home (AHAH).
Working with HPE, RDUH upgraded its data center and deployed HPE Aruba CX switches, Wi‑Fi 6/6E access points, remote access points, SD‑Branch solutions and management tools (Aruba Central, ClearPass, AirWave, UXI). The new architecture delivers secure remote access to records, supports 1,200+ SaaS apps, unifies network management for ~10,000 users across hospitals and community sites, enables home‑based care that frees beds, and now hosts services regionally for other NHS trusts.
