A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Fresno Pacific University, a Hispanic-Serving Institution with about 4,100 students and 8,000 professional-development attendees, faced an increasingly obsolete wired and wireless network that couldn’t meet campus and satellite-site expectations for academics, athletics and security. IT needed a scalable, centrally managed solution to support high-bandwidth use (4K streaming, live event feeds), streamline administration across sites up to 100 miles away, and tighten access control.
FPU deployed an end-to-end Aruba solution—CX 8400 core, 3810/2930 access switches, indoor/outdoor APs, Mobility Master, ClearPass and AirWave—integrated with Azure AD and automated via APIs and dynamic segmentation. The upgrade cut deployment and update times from hours or days to minutes, delivered seamless 4K and live-streaming experiences (including NCAA feeds), enabled granular security and IoT monitoring (about 100 cameras), reduced help-desk calls and social-media complaints, and unlocked new curriculum and revenue opportunities at satellite campuses.
