A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Commercial Alcohols, Inc. (CAI), Canada’s largest manufacturer and supplier of industrial and beverage‑grade alcohol, needed a simple, secure wireless solution to support highly mobile plant operators and a small centralized IT team across eight North American sites. Their priorities were reliable voice over wireless, seamless mobile access to data‑center applications, two‑factor authentication, and the ability to centrally manage and extend Wi‑Fi to remote offices.
CAI deployed Aruba Mobility Controllers with Aruba 60/70 APs plus Aruba VPN, firewall and WIP, integrating Nortel Spectralink VoIP handsets on a dedicated SSID, MAC filtering, RSA two‑factor authentication, and IPsec remote‑AP tunnels. The deployment delivered secure, centrally managed VoIP and data access with voice encryption, automated alarms and touch‑to‑talk, faster information access, simpler administration than the prior system, and lower operational and capital costs while enabling quick, low‑effort extension of Wi‑Fi to remote sites.
