A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
La Jolla Country Day School, a 1,050‑student college‑preparatory school, faced rapidly growing demand for wireless access and BYOD support. Its legacy, non‑controller Brocade Wi‑Fi with a single staff SSID left networks exposed and was costly to manage (85 APs required manual updates). IT needed controller‑based Wi‑Fi, role‑based authentication, AAA/RADIUS, NAC/endpoint checks, and better user/device visibility.
LJCDS deployed an Aruba controller‑based WLAN and Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager for integrated RADIUS, role‑ and device‑based policies, and reporting, tying into Active Directory and existing switches/NAC. The result was centralized, identity‑aware access control with clear user/device differentiation, improved security and troubleshooting, reduced IT overhead, and lower costs while enabling scalable BYOD support across campus.
