A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Canterbury Christ Church University, a 15,000‑student institution in the UK, needed to reassert control over campus and accommodation connectivity to support digital teaching, data‑heavy applications and student lifestyle demands. With much accommodation previously outsourced, the university faced inconsistent service levels and rising expectations for consumer‑grade Wi‑Fi, gaming support and secure access for partners like the NHS and industry collaborators.
The university deployed an Aruba Edge Services Platform—AP‑515 Wi‑Fi 6 (160+ in the new Verena Holmes building) and AP‑575 outdoors, Aruba‑7220 controllers with a mobility conductor, Aruba‑2930M switches, AirWave, ClearPass, AirGroup and Azure SSO, plus UXI sensors and firewall integration. The result is a “home‑from‑home” wireless experience with personalised student network segments, secure user segregation, wireless‑only accommodation in many areas, support for a £150m expansion and a contribution to an 82% National Student Survey satisfaction rating.
