A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Avondale College, one of New Zealand’s largest secondary schools with over 2,600 students, had pioneered project-driven, digital learning but was constrained by legacy networks, fragmented storage and uneven Wi‑Fi coverage. The school needed reliable, enterprise‑grade access to productivity and industry certification tools, scalable cloud and networking platforms to support campus growth, device mobility and a future “Education‑as‑a‑Service” offering for other schools.
In partnership with HPE and Aruba the school deployed an enterprise stack—servers and all‑flash storage, converged core switching, SDN, and high‑density Aruba Wi‑Fi (APs, controllers, switches and AirWave)—plus cloud and management tools to virtualize services and enable device mobility. The new infrastructure delivered pervasive, reliable access and real‑time monitoring for tailored learning, transformed teaching into a data‑rich, project‑based model, improved student outcomes (including university entrance rates above national averages for traditionally underrepresented groups) and created a scalable platform to offer Education‑as‑a‑Service to smaller or remote schools.
