Case Study: Auckland Transport achieves connected, mobile city operations with HPE Aruba Networking

A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the Auckland Transport Case Study

Auckland Transport aims to be the “world’s most livable city” with connected, mobile operations

Auckland Transport, which plans and operates buses, trains, ferries, roads and cycleways for a growing Auckland population of 1.6 million, set out to realize the city’s vision of becoming “the world’s most livable city.” To mobilize operations across stations, corridors and wharfs it needed a dynamic, scalable network to support 1,800 staff and visitors plus thousands of connected traffic lights, cameras and other IoT devices while securing diverse users and endpoints.

Aruba delivered a controller‑based campus and branch Wi‑Fi and switching solution with ClearPass for policy-based authentication and profiling and AirWave for network management. The integrated deployment provided high-performance indoor/outdoor connectivity, improved city-wide transport and infrastructure operations, sped up service delivery and lowered costs by reducing the need for separate physical networks, and enabled faster IT response with stronger, policy-driven service levels.
