A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Lakewood Center, a large Macerich-owned regional mall in Southern California, needed reliable outdoor video surveillance for stores, restaurants and parking areas located across a busy street from the main mall. Trenching to run fiber was prohibited and prohibitively costly, and the site presented high interference and line-of-sight challenges from buildings and trees, so the team required a non-disruptive, scalable wireless solution that could deliver broadcast-quality, live video to the mall’s central security center.
Aruba deployed a wireless mesh solution using 13 cameras and 10 Aruba mesh routers to cover roughly five city blocks, linking all video feeds to the surveillance center without digging. Aruba’s AVT technology ensured clear, low-jitter HD video while Adaptive Wireless Routing optimized multi-hop throughput and reliability, delivering scalable, high-quality surveillance across the busy street and avoiding the expense and disruption of trenching.
