A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
RMIT, a technology-focused university in Melbourne with more than 150 buildings and thousands of students moving between campuses, needed a scalable, secure and seamless network to support “anytime, anywhere” learning. With up to 30,000 concurrent devices and heavy use of video and online apps, the institution required reliable campus-wide wireless and wired connectivity plus simple authentication and device onboarding.
Aruba delivered a unified wired and wireless solution — 4,500 802.11ac access points, 1,200+ switches, AirWave monitoring, ClearPass authentication and Meridian wayfinding — rolled out in under a year. The cloud-managed network centrally streamlines administration, supports 30,000 concurrent (and 60,000 unique) device connections, moves half a terabyte of data per day, improves student and staff satisfaction, and adds location services with 5,000 beacons for campus wayfinding.
