Case Study: AQUATIS achieves immersive mobile visitor experiences and reliable high‑density Wi‑Fi with HPE Aruba Networking

A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the AQUATIS Case Study

Aruba offers an immersive mobile experience in the heart of AQUATIS, Europe’s largest freshwater aquarium-vivarium

AQUATIS, part of the BOAS Group, wanted to turn its enclosed aquarium‑vivarium and tropical rainforest—visited by about 400,000 people a year—into a next‑generation, mobile‑first attraction. The IT team needed a reliable, high‑density Wi‑Fi and indoor‑location solution that would support personalised tours on visitors’ smartphones for up to 5,000 daily visitors (1,000 concurrent), while coping with humid, challenging indoor/outdoor environments and ensuring secure, prioritised connectivity for the site’s app and ticketing systems.

BOAS deployed Aruba infrastructure—AP‑305/325 indoor and AP‑275 outdoor access points, BLE beacons, Mobility Controllers, Aruba Firewall and the Meridian platform/SDK—plus a custom AQUATIS app. The solution delivered seamless geo‑tracking, push notifications and centrally managed, enterprise‑grade Wi‑Fi and beacon services across 80 APs and 35 digital screens, enabling dynamic, easily updated content, higher visitor satisfaction and loyalty, improved operational scalability and remote management, and a clear path to new mobile services and increased ROI.
