A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Hochschule Hannover, a university of applied sciences with about 10,000 students across five sites and some 3,000 rooms, faced recurring wayfinding problems—especially when rooms were moved at short notice and for people with mobility challenges in older buildings. The university needed an accessible, digital way to help new students, staff and visitors find rooms and stair-free routes across a large campus.
They implemented Aruba Meridian indoor navigation using Aruba Bluetooth Low Energy beacons integrated with the existing Aruba Wi‑Fi and systems, and launched a mobile app that pulls building and room data automatically. The rollout (1,000–1,500 beacons planned) enables students to navigate to rooms and accessible routes via smartphone, simplified app development and beacon management, delivered positive user feedback, and opened the door to additional location-based services.
