A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the rAge Expo Case Study

Aruba LAN delivers low-latency, always-on networking to the biggest Bring Your Own Computer gaming marathon in SA

rAge is South Africa’s largest annual gaming expo, drawing more than 2,000 competitive gamers to a 52‑hour Bring Your Own Computer marathon. Organisers needed a fast, always‑on network that could authenticate and connect 2,000+ diverse rigs, support up to 2,600 ports and handle massive traffic (268 TB in one event) with minimal commissioning time—requirements their previous provider couldn’t meet.

Aruba delivered a turnkey solution using 5406R/3810/2530 switches, ClearPass for access control and AirWave for monitoring, plus on‑site support. The deployment was completed in days, handled peak throughput without added latency, enabled easy per‑port control and guest onboarding, and kept the LAN highly available—helping tickets sell out in minutes and ensuring a reliable, low‑latency experience year after year.
