A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Lufthansa Technik AG, a global leader in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul and a designer of aviation systems, needed to bring robust wireless connectivity into commercial aircraft. The company faced the challenge of delivering high-performance, upgradeable Wi‑Fi in a harsh "steel-tube" environment with long product lifecycles, while simplifying installation and certification and securing long-term parts and technology support.
They selected Aruba’s controller‑less 802.11ac Instant APs (based on a ruggedised IAP‑225) packaged in aviation‑compliant, airtight housings with aircraft power and safety interfaces and DO‑160G qualification. The integrated antennas, Airtime Fairness and controller‑less architecture reduced cabling and installation complexity, cut costs, supported high-density streaming and services for passengers, and—backed by an ongoing engineering partnership—provided the certification and long‑term roadmap certainty airlines require.
