A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study
Molecaten is a Dutch campsite operator with 17 sites in the Netherlands and one in Hungary whose guests increasingly expect reliable, hotel‑grade Wi‑Fi. After years of poor performance from third‑party providers—exacerbated by bandwidth‑hungry devices and the unique challenges of wooded and beachside sites—Molecaten decided it needed a controllable, future‑proof network ahead of new resort builds and seasonal demand.
Working with Aruba and partner 4IP Solution, Molecaten deployed a fibre backbone and a scalable wireless fabric of more than 1,000 Aruba APs (about 900 outdoor), Aruba Mobility Controllers for large parks, Instant AP clusters for smaller sites, plus ClearPass and AirWave for secure access and central management. The rollout cut complaints, enabled a new paid access stream (€5/day per device), supported 5,500 concurrent devices using 1.5Gb at peak, and unlocked operational benefits—analytics, smart‑building controls, wayfinding and integrated billing—while giving the company a single view and tighter control of its network.
