Aruba creates Mobile First platform for Catalan healthcare provider to build digital future

Hospital General de Granollers, a public teaching and geriatric care provider near Barcelona, needed to modernise its IT to support growing digital collaboration, mobile bedside care and secure sharing of electronic health records across multiple buildings and external agencies. The hospital wanted a stable, secure wireless backbone to enable a patient-facing app (with geolocation and live waiting times), BYOD, IoT and location-based services while protecting sensitive data.

Aruba deployed a Mobile First architecture — including 180+ Aruba access points, redundant campus switches, controllers, ClearPass and AirWave — to deliver seamless Wi‑Fi roaming, role-based access control and centralised management. The new network today supports corporate mobile devices and bedside “computers on wheels,” integrates with regional health networks, enabled the patient app and faster access to external scans, and has improved responsiveness, diagnostic workflows and overall patient experience while providing a platform for future BLE wayfinding, asset tracking and IoT projects.
