Case Study: Crofton School achieves campus-wide BYOD access and seamless roaming with HPE Aruba Networking

A HPE Aruba Networking Case Study

Preview of the Crofton School Case Study

Aruba Central enables UK comprehensive to manage BYOD access for pupils and staff and enable seamless roaming

Crofton School is an English comprehensive of 1,100 students and 200 staff that needed to balance strict phone-use rules with the educational benefits of smartphones, while also supporting a growing trend of teachers roaming between classrooms and working from the cloud. The school required reliable indoor and outdoor wireless coverage, high-performance connectivity for media-rich teaching, and simplified, tightly controlled guest access.

Working with partner Medhurst Communications, Crofton deployed Aruba Central with Aruba Instant access points and Aruba campus switches to deliver a cloud-managed WLAN/LAN. Guest access is synced with Active Directory and Aruba Clarity provides predictive monitoring. The result: full BYOD support and seamless teacher roaming (up from 3–4 students per class to every permitted student being able to connect), more than 90% of staff on wireless, simpler network management and scalability, and the ability to roll out Office365 and explore flexible, cloud-based classrooms.
