Aruba Beacons deliver interactive experience for visitors to landmark tourist attraction

The Royal Botanical Gardens in Madrid, a 75,000 sqm historic site founded in 1775 with over 30,000 recorded plant species and some 400,000 annual visitors, wanted to digitise its living and archival collections and make seasonal, educational and research information easily accessible to visitors and staff.

Aruba and partner Mobile72 delivered a lightweight mobile app using Aruba Meridian, ClearPass and 270 outdoor BLE beacons to provide location-based, multi‑language audio/photo/video content, turn-by-turn maps and personalised itineraries. The deployment covers the entire estate with ~1‑meter tracking accuracy, improves visitor navigation and engagement, gathers granular visit data for marketing and planning, and enables new retail and promotional opportunities.
