Case Study: EllisDon achieves efficient digital pull planning and improved collaboration on the $1.2B Royal Columbian Hospital project with Hoylu

A Hoylu Case Study

Preview of the EllisDon Case Study

How Hoylu Digitized Construction Planning for Ellisdon

EllisDon, a Canadian, employee-owned construction services company ($5B annual revenue, ~5,000 staff), needed an easy-to-use digital pull planning solution for the complex Royal Columbian Hospital redevelopment — a $1.2B, multi-phase project that must remain operational during construction. After finding previous visual collaboration tools cumbersome, EllisDon selected Hoylu and its Hoylu for Construction cloud-based planning software to replace sticky notes and whiteboards.

Hoylu implemented a digital pull-planning workflow used across the project (over 20 floor-specific pull plans managed by multiple superintendents), with roughly 80 onsite staff and about half actively using the platform. Hoylu improved real-time collaboration, visualization, and reporting, reduced rework and manual errors, and saved staff time (customers noted hour-per-week savings per user), enabling more efficient coordination and effective management of the $1.2B RCH project.
