Howspace accelerates the growth of Environment Online’s international school climate movement

Environment Online (ENO) is an international network of schools and communities based in Joensuu, Finland. In 2019, ENO needed to bring together 230 teachers and students from around the world for a World Summit of Students for Climate and to build a worldwide climate agreement for schools. To support this ambitious challenge, ENO used Howspace.

Howspace provided a digital workspace for pre-work, where participants shared video presentations, joined facilitated discussions, and completed activities before meeting in person. This early collaboration helped the group create the Climate Agreement of Schools 2019–2025 within a week, with over 95% of invitees participating digitally. The agreement has since been signed by more than 450 schools worldwide, and the signatories aim to capture over 3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide by 2025.
