Portner Brewhouse, a brewery-restaurant in Alexandria, VA founded by sisters Catherine and Margaret Portner, was managing reservations with pen and paper and taking bookings only by phone—an error-prone, labor-intensive process that limited capacity just as high-demand days like Mother’s Day approached. To modernize reservations and reduce workload they signed up with Hostme to add online reservations and a digital reservations system.

Hostme’s reservation feature, mobile app, real-time floor plan and unique waitlist were implemented across Portner Brewhouse’s two host stands, preventing double-bookings and simplifying training. The system went live in time for Mother’s Day and generated over 40 reservations on its first day, has become part of daily operations, reduced training time and labor costs, and provided an economical, easy-to-use solution for the restaurant.
