A Hospital IQ Case Study
University Hospitals, a private not-for-profit academic health system with 2,240 beds, 128 operating rooms, and 150,000 surgeries annually, wanted to achieve systemness across the enterprise. Working with Hospital IQ, they aimed to shift to a market-based operating model, improve care quality, increase transparency into OR availability, and reduce inefficiencies across a complex regional network.
Hospital IQ provided AI-driven recommendations and OR schedule visibility to help University Hospitals release unused block time, uncover hidden OR capacity, and prioritize OR requests more effectively. The solution helped increase OR utilization by 5%, maintain a 20-day average lead time for released blocks, and enable 25+ cases per week in released time, while also supporting a rise in CMI from 3.38 to 3.53.
