QSight IT, a Dutch IT company focused on networking, security, storage, and cloud, needed a better way to analyze growing volumes of security data and assess the impact of threats in real time. Its earlier approach could identify possible risks, but it lacked the flexibility, scalability, and integration needed to turn data into actionable security intelligence. QSight chose Hortonworks and Hadoop-based solutions, including Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), Hortonworks DataFlow (HDF), and Apache Metron, to support its data-driven security strategy.

With Hortonworks, QSight IT built a scalable, open source platform that could collect, process, and analyze data from many sources, including threat intelligence and customer network feeds. The result was the ability to process 800,000 to one million customer events per day, gain a more complete picture of threats, and react faster with risk-based services. Hortonworks also helped QSight reduce maintenance and licensing costs while improving flexibility, continuity, and support for future cloud and IoT needs.
