Pinsight Media, a mobile data company, needed an agile, scalable platform to manage the volume, velocity, variety, and veracity of more than 60 terabytes of data from over 30 sources across 65 million devices. It wanted a single view of consumer behavior to power precise, timely mobile advertising, and turned to Hortonworks and Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) for help.

Hortonworks implemented a data lake on HDP and provided professional services to launch the cluster and optimize Pinsight’s batch and streaming Lambda architecture. With Hortonworks, Pinsight improved precision targeting, reduced data fragmentation and overhead, and enabled advanced analytics on massive location and behavioral data, including up to 30 billion location events per day and 900 billion events per month processed with Apache Spark on HDP.
