Luminar, a leading big data analytics and modeling provider focused on U.S. Latino consumer insights, needed a more scalable way to store and process rapidly growing, diverse data sources. The company wanted to move beyond sample-based research and support a much larger datastore for its targeting models, so it evaluated Hortonworks and the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) to handle its expanding data volume and complexity.

Hortonworks implemented HDP and enterprise support, enabling Luminar to integrate data from cloud and on-premises tools while improving storage capacity and processing speed. The results were significant: Luminar increased data sources from 300 to 2,000, captured eight times more data, cut speed to analysis from 3 days to 3 hours, and reduced processing time from hours to minutes, all while lowering storage costs per terabyte.
