Case Study: SoftBank achieves stable, low-cost enterprise data analytics with Hortonworks

A Hortonworks Case Study

Preview of the SoftBank Case Study

A Revamped Platform to Analyze Ever-Increasing Data for a Leading Telecommunication Carrier

SoftBank, a leading telecommunication carrier, needed a way to handle ever-increasing volumes of sensitive telecom data while improving analytics efficiency and strengthening internal technical skills. To meet these goals, SoftBank adopted Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) and Apache Hadoop, along with related open source tools, to build a secure, low-cost data analysis platform.

Hortonworks implemented HDP with components such as HDFS, Apache Hive, Apache Spark, and Apache Ambari to support storage, high-speed processing, and centralized operations management. The result was stable enterprise-grade Hadoop operations, improved operational efficiency through Ambari, and distributed processing of large data volumes at low cost, while giving SoftBank a stronger foundation for future data use cases.
