Laser Specialist Lpkf Relies On All-round Cloud Protection From Hornetsecurity

LPKF Laser & Electronics AG, a Prime Standard–listed laser and machine manufacturer with around 850 employees, faced rising operational IT security demands and complexity from disparate on‑premise antivirus, spam filters and PGP email encryption. To simplify administration and raise protection levels, LPKF turned to Hornetsecurity over 10 years ago and adopted cloud services including 365 TPEB along with Spam and Malware Protection, Archiving & Email Encryption.

Hornetsecurity implemented an end‑to‑end cloud security platform for Microsoft 365—combining spam/virus filtering, Advanced Threat Protection, S/MIME/TLS/PGP email encryption (with Websafe fallback) and 365 Total Protection Enterprise Backup—managing four local servers with failover to Hornetsecurity data centers. The centralized control panel and automation (automatic S/MIME assignment in Azure AD, Teams added to backup) have simplified management, freed up IT resources and increased resilience; backups cover roughly 80% cloud and 20% on‑premise workloads, about half the workforce already uses S/MIME, and LPKF plans S/MIME rollout to all 850 users.
