A Hookson Case Study
American Ancestors, a respected genealogical organization, required a website to tell the important story of the GU272 Memory Project, which recounts the 1838 sale of 272 enslaved people. They engaged the vendor Hookson to create a UX-powered website that could connect descendants with their ancestors' histories in a compelling and emotionally resonant way.
Hookson designed and built a visually stunning and highly functional website using Drupal. The solution featured art-directed animation, a powerful search facility, and a layout that connected historical documents with contemporary portraits. The resulting site successfully illuminated these important stories, receiving significant media exposure from major outlets like ABC News and The New York Times and was named a finalist for the GLAMi Awards 2020.
