Point Loma Nazarene University - Customer Case Study

Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU), a Christian liberal arts college in San Diego, needed a better way to support exams across in-person, online, and blended courses. Faculty had relied on paper tests, hand grading, and an old Scantron machine, but with growing interest in online testing and a sudden pandemic-driven shift to remote learning, PLNU needed a more secure and flexible proctoring option. The university worked with Honorlock and its online proctoring platform integrated with Canvas.

Honorlock helped PLNU implement online proctoring for classroom, hybrid, and fully online exams, including automated proctoring, live proctor support, BrowserGuard, ID authentication, and Canvas-based reporting and grading. The result was a smoother testing experience for instructors and students, stronger academic integrity, and significant time savings because instructors no longer had to review proctoring video in most cases. PLNU ultimately expanded from a pilot to an institution-wide purchase of Honorlock, and faculty continued using it even after pandemic restrictions eased.
