A Honeywell Case Study
Wing Aviation, a Houston-based private luxury jet operator that manages 27 aircraft, faced the FAA’s January 1, 2020 ADS-B mandate and the risk of grounding or long maintenance delays. To get ahead of the anticipated installation rush and keep its clients flying, Wing Aviation selected Honeywell avionics—including ADS‑B Out, the FMZ‑2010 flight management system with FMS 6.1, FANS 1/A, DU‑875 LCD displays and the Honeywell Avionics Protection Plan—to equip its Embraer Legacy 600.
Honeywell’s integrated upgrade (installed during the aircraft’s scheduled 96‑month inspection) delivered compliant ADS‑B and CPDLC capability, clearer lighter LCD displays, improved satellite communications and better departure reliability. As a result, Wing Aviation’s Legacy 600 is fully ADS‑B/FANS‑capable, half of the company’s fleet is now ADS‑B compliant, flights remain uninterrupted in ADS‑B/FANS airspace, and the operator has reduced downtime, improved pilot situational awareness and achieved weight and fuel‑efficiency benefits.
