Washington Fruit & Produce Co. - Customer Case Study

Washington Fruit & Produce Co., one of Washington state’s largest apple shippers, faced inefficient pallet tagging and manual inventory processes at its new Yakima packing facility that led to shipping errors and time-consuming daily “house counts,” and needed to comply with new U.S. food traceability requirements. They engaged Pacific iD to implement a hardware solution centered on Intermec by Honeywell products—CK3 mobile computers, CV60 vehicle-mount terminals, SR61ex scanners and PM4i industrial printers—to modernize pallet tagging and box-level tracking.

The Honeywell solution enabled box-level serial numbering and GTIN barcodes, automated pallet-tag generation and forklift-mounted scanning so drivers can scan without leaving their seats; as a result Washington Fruit has eliminated wrong-product shipments, improved throughput (about 40 pallet tags per hour printed with PM4i), broken daily packing records without adding staff, and achieved full traceability for rapid recall response.
