A Honeywell Case Study
The Warsteiner Group, one of Germany’s oldest and most prominent brewing companies, needed to tighten quality assurance and speed up reaction times across brewing, laboratory and bottling operations. Their legacy barcode system was error-prone and did not provide direct feedback to central systems, so Warsteiner turned to Intermec by Honeywell (Honeywell) for a rugged mobile solution — the CN70 mobile computer — to support real‑time sampling and traceability across its plants.
Honeywell, via Intermec by Honeywell CN70 devices and integration partner ID‑Solutions, deployed more than 50 CN70 mobile computers connected over WLAN and integrated with the Siemens Unilab system across multiple breweries. The solution delivered fast, high‑accuracy scanning, direct server feedback and step‑by‑step sampling guidance, minimizing input errors, speeding fault localization and response, and allowing Warsteiner to quickly raise its quality assurance performance across sites. Honeywell’s CN70s were rolled out at Herford, Paderborn and Fürstenfeldbruck, among others, and supported the company’s high food‑safety standards.
